NDRF CBRN COVER FOR G-20 SUMMIT IN NEW DELHI

India hosted the G-20 Summit Event from 9-10 September at New Delhi in which Heads of State and Heads of Govt of G-20 member Nations and Heads of various International Organizations participated.
In order to counter any possible CBRN contingency, NDRF was tasked to provide CBRN cover to all the Venues and the Hotels where the delegates were scheduled to stay during the Summit event. NDRF deployed about 600 well-trained Rescuers in 11 teams equipped with the latest CBRN equipment. Besides, four state of the art Hazmat vehicles recently fabricated by M/S Bharat Electronics Limited at Pune and equipped with the latest gadgets for chemical and radiation detection and assessment were also deployed at strategic locations to counter any possible CBRN threat.
In the run up to the event, NDRF in co-ordination with NDMA and other stakeholders including DAE and DRDO conducted various sensitization training programmes for the Rescuers, Delhi Police, NSG, Medical Officers & Ambulance Staff from Hospitals and Security Officials, Event Managers and Hotel staff to apprise them of the likely threat scenarios and action on their part as a first responder. The training culminated in a Table Top Exercise and Mock Exercise at different venues involving all stakeholders. Special Emergency Operations Control Centres were established and VSAT Mounted Comn Vehicles were placed at vantage points to monitor the situation 24X7.
The complete deployment was worked out threadbare with stakeholders in close coordination and enforced on the ground resulting in the successful conduct of the event.
