MONSOON-2023: FLOOD WATER RESCUE OPERATIONS BY NDRF CONTINUE

Humanitarian assistance and flood relief operations in mostly flood-affected States viz. Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh are still going on. A total of 65 NDRF teams have been deployed till now in flood- affected areas for rescue and relief work in coordination with State Administration.
At present, 16 teams of NDRF are deployed in the flood-affected districts of Delhi viz. Central Delhi- 03, North East Delhi-02, South East Delhi - 05, East Delhi - 04, Shahdara -02. Apart from this, 11 teams in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand each, 10 teams in Haryana, 08 teams in Punjab and 09 teams in Uttar Pradesh are on rescue mission.
NDRF teams are relentlessly engaged in evacuation operations day in and day out. Till now in Delhi area NDRF teams have rescued total 1530 people from difficult areas and evacuated 6345 people along with 912 livestock to safer places. Besides, NDRF teams are conducting regular rescue/ evacuation operations in flood-prone areas in other States also. During the current monsoon season, NDRF has rescued more than 2286 precious lives and evacuated 17,492 people and 1407 livestock to safer places.
In one of the significant yet challenging evacuations, today, in Hindrise Cattle Ashram of Sector 135, Noida several cows, calves, dogs, goats and rabbits making a total of appx 221 have been rescued by NDRF rescuers including famous India’s number 1 Bull “Pritam”. The operation is still going on.
In yet another remarkable livestock rescue operation on 14 July 2023, 130 animals including cows and buffaloes were rescued after strenuous efforts of NDRF rescuers for approx. 12 hours in Usmanpur area. It was a real challenge to take out the animals from narrow lanes
The Force is organizing Medical camps, providing medical assistance to needy People; accordingly more than 500 people have been given medicines and examined at the Medical camps by the NDRF Doctors and also treating the injured animals. The teams are distributing relief material to people in flood affected areas in coordination with the State administration and Police.
The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) weather forecast and Centre Water Commission (CWC) report are being monitored continuously and operation planning is being done accordingly in consultation with the state administration. The NDRF commanders at the field are in contact with respective State authorities to render all possible assistance.
Sh. Atul Karwal, DG NDRF and other senior officers from NDRF HQ are also on the ground zero and closely monitoring the situation and ongoing operations. The NDRF HQ Control Room is keeping an eye on the developments of the situation 24X7 and is in constant touch with concerned States authorities.
