KERALA FLOODS : 450 RESCUED & OVER 17,000 EVACUATED TILL NOW

The rescue and evacuation operations by National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in flood hit areas of Kerala are continuing on the twelve consecutive day. 58 NDRF teams are fighting flood fury with sheer determination in 10 districts viz. Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Alappuzha, Wayanad, Kotayam, Ernakulum, Thrissur, Kozhikode, Trivendrum and Malapuram in Kerala. Today, maximum NDRF teams are operating in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kotayam and Thrissur districts which are still worst affected. Though heavy water flow & gusty wind has been hampering the rescue operations in some place, NDRF responders are going extra miles to reach out to the marooned people in these areas.

2. Today, NDRF teams evacuated 32 persons in Kotayam till the last report came. So far, NDRF teams rescued 450 persons & 66 livestock, evacuated 17,036 persons and provided medical assistance to 4700 needy persons. Operations are still going on.

3. In addition, NDRF has set 05 medical camps in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Thrissur districts and provided medical assistance to 400 persons.

4. Director General, NDRF is personally supervising the on-going rescue operations by NDRF in Kerala. A 24x7, NDRF control room is monitoring the situation round the clock and is in close touch with other agencies/stakeholders.
