BUILDING COLLAPSE IN GREATER NOIDA UTTAR PRADESH : NDRF RESPONSE

A six storeyed building came crashing down on another four storeyed under construction building in Greater Noida’s Shah Beri village on Thursday night. The collapse took place in a pancake pattern, leaving several people trapped under the debris. On intimation, immediately one Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) team of NDRF comprising of trained responder & Canine along with latest disaster response equipment rushed to the spot from NDRF base Ghaziabad at 2235 hrs and started the rescue work with other agencies at 2335 hrs. To strengthen the response & to capitalize the rule of “Golden Hour”, three more teams were mobilized from NDRF base Ghaziabad.

Initially, the priority of teams was to locate the victims trapped inside the debris. Canine search was carried out to get the sign of any victim followed by technical & manual search. NDRF is using heavy machinery to remove debris and search the victims. After removal of debris specialized equipment viz. victim location camera are inserted inside after cutting the concrete slabs to trace the people underneath. The teams are trained as per International standard and commencing the operation as per International procedure.

NDRF teams commenced non-stop rescue operations throughout night. As the victims are trapped inside the debris, due care and diligence is being taken into consideration by NDRF teams. During the operations, NDRF teams retrieved 05 dead bodies so far. Search and rescue operation is still underway.

Director General, NDRF, Sh. Sanjay Kumar personally supervising the ongoing search and rescue operations of NDRF. A 24x7 NDRF control room in Delhi is closely monitoring the situation.
