23 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been pre-positioned in the 14 vulnerable districts of the Bihar. Today i.e on 05th August 2020, NDRF teams carried out evacuation operations in the flood-affected areas of Taraiya and Panapur blocks of Saran district and evacuated more than 250 stranded people to safer locations. In addition, NDRF team operational at Muzzafarpur district assisted local administration in the restoration of electricity and distribution of relief materials.
On the intervening night of 04/05 August, 2020, NDRF team helped to evacuate a 15 years old snakebite victim to safety at far-flung flood-hit Janerwa village under block Banjaria in East Champaran district. Despite dark & rainy night NDRF teams commenced operation and safely evacuated the victim and further shifted him to a hospital. Till now, NDRF has evacuated approximately 11,400 persons including pregnant ladies in Bihar, till now. The flood-related operations continue in Bihar.
Recent heavy rains in Mumbai and its suburbs disrupted rail & road communication and put normal life out gear. 09 self-contained flood rescue & relief teams of NDRF are kept on alert mode at Nagpur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Thane, Kurla & Palghar for prompt response to disasters. Additional teams are kept in reserve and shall be mobilized as per requirement.
A total of 123 teams of NDRF have been pre-positioned for rains & flood related rescue and relief operations across the country. These NDRF teams are pre-positioned in vulnerable locations well before the onset of monsoon season as a part of pro-active measures for a prompt response to any untoward incidents.
All NDRF teams are on “Mission –Mode” with adequate Man, Machinery and Resources to deal with any exigency during the current monsoon season.
Till now, NDRF has rescued 247 persons, evacuated over 14,000 persons & 297 livestock and provided medical assistance to 40 needy persons across the country during the current monsoon season.
Director-General, NDRF, Sh. S. N. Pradhan is personally monitoring the situation round the clock and is in close touch with the local administration. NDRF control rooms in Delhi and its field formations are also monitoring the situation.
