The three-day long Joint EXCON Meeting Cum Training of “Shanghai Cooperation Organization Joint Exercise on Urban Earthquake Search & Rescue- 2019 began at Delhi’s Dr. Ambedkar International Center, today.
During the preparatory meeting for the main exercise held in November, 2018, it was decided to conduct the Joint EXCON meeting cum training as a precursor event to the main exercise scheduled for 21-24 February, 2019 in Delhi by India. Accordingly meeting cum training is being conducted.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been entrusted the responsibility of organizing the exercise by Government of India.
Welcoming the august gathering, Director General, NDRF, Sh. Satya Narayan Pradhan stressed the need to develop a unified response system by modernizing the existing disaster management systems. He also emphasized on sharing of knowledge, best practices, technology, mutual coordination and lessons learnt for developing a structured response mechanism in the SCO region. DG further said that this EXCON meeting cum training will also provide a unique platform to understand and appreciate the felt needs & requirements and to discuss the various aspects with respect to successful execution of the main exercise. This structured response system will then prove to be effective in a scenario where multi-agency operations in any part of the SCO region may be required and called for.
During the programme, briefing & detailed discussion on various aspects such as layout of Exercise Venue, General Scenarios and various injects is being held among the representatives of the SCO member nations.
Representatives from Republic of India, Republic of Kazakhstan, the People’s Republic of China, Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Republic of Uzbekistan are attending the meeting and sharing their views.
The meeting is scheduled w.e.f 6-8th February, 2019 and will be continued for 7th & 8th February, 2019.
