Today, a building collapsed at Sathar talab, P.S. Jaipura street, Distt- Varanasi and several people trapped underneath. On receipt of information from local administration, 02 Search and Rescue (SAR) team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) comprising of 63 rescuers along with Collapse Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) equipment immediately rushed to the spot from NDRF base camp and started operation. Canine which are integral parts of NDRF CSSR team also pressed in to action to search the trapped victim.

The NDRF responders displayed high degree of expertise to save the lives of victims trapped under the debris without letting a single minute go waste. During the search & rescue operation NDRF team rescued one live victim named Ms. Reshma 50 years old.

In addition, NDRF team rescued 02 persons trapped in Manas River near Bheerwara village of Rajsamand District in Rajasthan in night operation.

NDRF team deployed at Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh organised medical camps and provided medical care & distributed medicine to 90 pilgrims out of whom 22 pilgrims were major injured, so far NDRF team has been provided medical care to 1849 pilgrims.

Total 48 self-contained flood rescue teams of NDRF are prepositioned in various flood prone areas of the country to assist the respective state administration in rescue and relief work.

A 24X7, NDRF control room in New Delhi is closely monitoring the situation and in touch with other agencies.
