NDRF teams deployed combating forest fire in Dzukou Valley border of Nagaland & Manipur

A massive forest fire broke out in the picturesque Dzukou Valley which is a tourist draw and a trekking destination along the Nagaland-Manipur since 29 Dec 2020. Originally it was confined to Nagaland state but now it has spread towards the hills of Manipur and continuously increasing its magnitude.

On the request of State authorities 07 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed in the affected district Kohima, Nagaland and Senapti of Manipur state to assist the Fire fighters in extinguishing the wild fire.
03 NDRF teams are approaching from western side near Essi hills in Kohima district while 04 rescue teams are acting from eastern side at Mao in Senapti of Manipur for dousing. NDRF teams are employing all possible techniques to check further spread of fire.
Teams of Fire brigade, local Police, Nagaland & Manipur SDRF and some NGO are also working to counter this fast spreading fire in the hills. Besides, IAF helicopters are also engaged in the operation.

NDRF Hqr is in close touch with state authorities and a 24x7, NDRF control room is monitoring the situation.
