ANNUAL CONFERENCE ON CAPACITY BUILDING OF SDRF-2016

National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) since its inception in year 2006 has continuously been engaged in community capacity building and public awareness programm, to make communities capable to help each other and overcome the causes of exclusion and sufferings. Besides, NDRF is also engaged in capacity building of States through SDRF training. NDRF play a pivotal role in providing guidance and assistance to States in raising of their SDRF and making them self-contained to response to disasters.
Disaster Management is a State subject and a prompt, well-coordinated and effective disaster response for undertaking rescue, relief and rehabilitation & reconstruction measures rest with the government of the affected States/UTs. DM Act 2005 empowered States to take necessary measures for preparedness and capacity building in accordance with adequate guidelines laid by National and State Authorities to provide prompt and effective response.
An annual conference on Capacity Building of SDRF is being organised on 21st April, 2016 in New Delhi by NDRF to develop a synergy among NDRF and States/UTs. NDRF remained committed to provide assistance and guidelines for raising State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) on the line of NDRF. Sh. O.P. Singh, DG, NDRF will inaugurate the conference. During conference various issues will be discussed for better coordination among Centre and States for DM plan.
NDRF, so far has trained more than 8,800 SDRF personnel of different States in disaster response training. Apart from this, NDRF remains committed to providing resource persons for in-house training activities of SDRF to States. NDRF is role model for disaster response for State and to form State level disaster response Force to tackle State level emergencies.
Director Generals of Police of various States/UTs, Relief Commissioners and representatives from SDMA & SDRF shall participate in the conference.
