SEARCH OPERATION BY NDRF AT TELINI PARA GHAT, HOOGLY, WEST BENGAL

Yesterday, a temporary jetty submerged in Hooghly River due to high tide at Bhadreswar in (Hooghly district) West Bengal, which left several persons missing. The accident took place when the passengers were waiting at the 150-feet high bamboo jetty at Telinipara for boarding a boat to cross the river. Some passengers managed to swim to safety, however around 10 persons reported missing.
On requisition of local administration, 03 search and rescue teams of NDRF comprising of 120 responders and equipped with boats and latest disaster response equipment, rushed to incident site from its Kolkata base and launched massive search operation.
Though poor visibility and heavy flow of water in Hooghly River, NDRF responders are leaving no stone unturned to trace the missing. Through search is being carried out by NDRF responders by combing the area with the help of Inflatable Rubber Boats.
So far, NDRF teams have retrieved 02 dead bodies. The operation is still in progress.
A 24x7 NDRF Control room is monitoring the situation round the clock and in touch with local administration.
